DIYP #1: Birthday Plate/Platter Gift

I guess technically this is my second Do It Yourself Project (DIYP), but because I never really blogged about my copying We Are THAT Family's silhouette's, I don't know if that counts.

Anyways, we have like 85 birthday (parties) or something coming up ~yes! 3 alone this weekend; and we really don't have the money for all of these parties, SO.... rather than cut back our social-ness or anything, I obviously have to get pretty cheap on some gifts.

This bothers my husband, but really, what can we do? We actually can't afford to buy everyone's sweet little one $20 items.

I decided to try Kristen's Birthday Plate idea over here.

See my work!

I am sooo very happy with them! ... and she's right, it really does wash off with spit water if you don't get it right the first time.

Anyways, this gift cost me less than $2. I mean, I already had the sharpies, but the plate was $1, just like hers! And really, I intend to buy a cute stand for it too, but WOW! Can it get much better than that!?!

Go check it out, because I don't see the point in my reblogging what Kristen obviously did effectively before.

Then again, it's so easy, it's kind of hard not to write out this simple task:

1. Buy a Plate, dollar store has good enough ones too!
2. I washed mine first, just because I'm like that.
3. Porcelain Markers are best if you plan to use this plate to eat off of, but Sharpee's work just as well and are much cheaper.
4. Draw something; anything. Go for whimsical, not perfection. I searched Word's Clip Art before to see what I had in mind.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes and the ink is set.
6. Wrap with a pen for guests to sign, have them open at the door and let it go from there!

There you have it: GREAT; cheap, beautiful gift!
